Last Night the Vegas Golden Knights got eliminated from the Stanley Cup Finals.  They lost 4-3 to the Washington Capitals in 5 games.  I wanted to take the time to say thank you to the team for an incredible year.  What makes it all the more is they were an expansion team playing in the NHL in their first year and to make it to the finals is incredible.  As disappointed as I am in seeing them lose the Stanley Cup I am incredibly proud to say they are my Hockey Team.

I was never really into the sport and had a favorite team in my life but I can say I am proud to call them my team.  What makes it more special is how the city of Las Vegas took to the team.  1 year ago we didn’t even have any players on the team,  Just a name for the team and where they were to play.  On 1 October tragedy hit the city I have lived in for the past 19 years with shooting on the strip that took the lives of 58 innocent people who were there enjoying themselves watching a concert.  Not only 58 people perished but countless others were injured not just physically but emotionally.  Fortunately I was out of town on a cruise that unfortunate night so my impact was not as great as people who went to the concert or were in Las Vegas that dreadful night.  But it still hurt me that a thing like that could happen in the city I live in and love.

The Golden Knights have helped heal a city that was grieving after that October night.  For that I say thank you.  Vegas is truly a great city, with lots of opportunities for individuals and families.  Vegas is no longer just a gambling town but a city that has culture, values and great weather.  It has become a fantastic place for people to live.  The economy is rolling again, there are job opportunities,  housing is affordable, great restaurants, parks and now Major League Sports with NHL Vegas, Golden Knights, WNBA Aces, Las Vegas Lights FC and the soon to be Las Vegas Raiders.
